Ok I used OGMCleaver, It did the same work of avc2avi.

If I open this avi with bsplayer, windows alert says: "Inknow file format (H264).

And virtuldub crashed.

What is wrong?

I have to activate something in FFDshow?

For DirectShow players...
ffdshow video decoder configuration > Codecs > switch-on H.264/AVC

For VirtualDub...
ffdshow video encoder configuration > Decoder > Codecs > switch-on H.264/AVC

my ffdshow are (CCCP pack):

FFDShow Audio Decoder Configuration
FFDShow VFW Codec Configuration
FFDShow Video Decoder Configuration > h.264/AVC it's ok

For VirtualDub... I don't have this:
ffdshow video encoder configuration > Decoder > Codecs > switch-on H.264/AVC

But in all my 3 FFDshow H264 is switch-on, and nothing change about my problem...

ok now it's work!

Placio: thanks! You suggested me OGMCleaver and it's the first step.
Then I downloaded new FFDShow MPEG-4 Video Decoder 2007-10-9
and virtualdub can now read this h264 (converted in avi) file.

thank you very very much :D

I wouldn't recommend putting H.264 video streams in AVI. AVI's support for H.264 is a hack which has a problem with some types of H.264. I think the problem was related with how H.264 does b-frames.

I thought that VirtualDubMod had the ability to work with MKV and OGM? That would mean you could work directly from the original. You will still need that ffdshow decoder/encoder however. But there's yet another possible issue - the x264 team stop developing a VfW based version due to VfW (the infrastructure that VirtualDub uses) being too old to support all the features available in H.264.

Both together shouldn't be too big a problem. It just means you probably can't squeeze everything from H.264.

Yes, but... not MKV with AVC and not OGM with OGG Theora.
Can't copy or recompress AAC and OGG Vorbis audio directly to AVI.

Yes and... unofficial continuation - DeathTheSheep United AVC VfW.

Maybe in near future anyone write API plugin for VirtualDub 1.7.
At this moment exist (input) plugins for: MPEG-2, WMV, FLV and QuickTime (MOV, MP4 - with AVC too - can use QT or VfW to decode).

Hope with Avidemux - can edit MP4 and MKV (MKV with AVC - not perfect).

Of course i'm 'say' about video editors (with visual preview) - not transcoders.
