Encoding Using On2VP7

Post by tb582 » Sat Mar 28, 2009 4:13 am

Hi all, this is my first time using MediaCoder and what I'm trying to do is encode a file using On2VP7 - I've downloaded the "Free edition" from On2's website so that currently sits in my start menu with the decoder settings and uninstall as the options their. I also downloaded the Media coder extra codecs pack - so now I've imported my file into Media coder - Under the video tab I have source as auto select and encoder set to VFW Encoder, in the VFW encoder options I've set the VFW codec file to C:\Program Files\MediaCoder\codecs\vp7vfw.dll - everything else is blank - Once I hit start I get the error message that says " Incorrect Parameters for MEncoder.

What am I doing wrong here?

Use MediaCoder 0.6.0 build 3993

Install VP7 VfW codec (or can copy manually vp7vfw.dll to codecs subfolder)

Set just...
VFW Codec file: vp7vfw.dll
(also set onepass.mcf and twopass.mcf)

Bitrate and Format (codec) from MediaCoder are negligible - because used external VfW codec with own config.
Set bitrate in VP7 config.

If set two-pass encoding in MediaCoder... don't forget set correct mode in codec config (first pass and after second pass).

3997 build is not available on sourceforge - removed from some reasons (bugs?).

OK I'm using the right version of media coder, couple of questions now:

1. I keep gettin the error: The decode thread seems to be blocked...do you want to interupt the task.... cant get that to go away, I tried changing the CPU priority and that didn't work???

2. How do I actually change the vp7 codec config? In the start menu I only have the decode settings?

MediaCoder 0.6.0.3993 build?
AVI container?
MP3 audio?

If You select correct audio format and container, also correctly configure VFW Encoder - VP7 codec config shown briefly after click on Start.

My source file is Quicktime/MOV - h264, MPEG-4 AAC 48hz audio.

Audo output I'm trying to go to Vorbis Avg. bitrate 128k, resample 44100
Video output mode is bitrate based, format flash video, container, flash video - source is auto select - Backend is VFW with the codec file path set C:\WINDOWS\system32\vp7vfw.dll.

Now I hit start it goes through a testing phase which seems to take forever as in the time tab I only way the first 30 sec. So I usually hit skip - then it switches to transcoding in progress, but I never get a VP7 config window :(..... ????
