Newbie with error message (VOB to WMV)

Post by pjman » Thu May 08, 2008 2:15 am

Hi;

I'm converting an VOB file to WMV and have followed the instructions provided in the suggested reading for new users. I keep getting the error message 014 which says :
* Description: A video encoder error is encountered
* Possible causes:
o Video encoder cannot be started as expected
o Video encoder is absent

I'm not sure what that means or how to address it.

Any thoughts ?

Thanks;

Pat

Thanks;

Those are the exact steps I followed from the new user primer.

How can I tell if the VOB has been decrypted ?

Cheers;

Pat

Thanks again;

I had the same error message when using one of the VOBs from the linked page, so I can't pin it on the VOB quite yet

I'm using the latest version 6.1 4045.

The VOB is from my client's company promotional DVD They don't know at this time if it's copy protected or not.

Thoughts ?

Cheers;

Thanks for your patience.

I upgraded to 4108 and the programs starts fine. But when I process the conversion, XP "encounters a problem and needs to close".

But it doesn't close and instead I get the message from MC that it failed to load the encoder. It's possible that the encoder is absent or it doesn't support the specified file.

After I click OK the next message says "no file is outputted".

After I click OK the programs remains open with the original screen and settings.

Ideas ?

Cheers;

Hi;

Actually, the last install was 4106 with a 4108 update. I've removed everything and will start from scratch again in the AM. Thanks for your help and if you don't mind I'll pick up this saga again tomorrow.

Cheers;
Pat

Hi, I had the same problem. I did a complete uninstall and I reverted back to version 0.6.1.4090 and everything worked fine. Not a technical explanation as to why, I know, but it may help if someone needs this done, or knows what the changes between the versions were.

Hi;

I had to give up. I couldn't get it to work. It might be my PC which is not always functioning as it should. I did find another product that worked like a charm that is not free. I don't want to mention it here since I think MediaCoder is a fine product and the problem I have has more to do with my PC than any defects in their program.

Good luck;

Pat
