Sounds to me like you should uninstall MediaCoder and make sure to delete the folder it was installed in. having done that, install a fresh full download, scrap the old builds and go for the latest full 20 mb one.

a clean install makes no difference unfortunately

So I believe this is a rare issue.
This shown text indicates that the preference data (content of mccore.xml) cannot be successfully loaded (by libxml2.dll). Could you help to try it on another system?

It runs fine on my mums laptop, which is XP
Unfortunately I don't have access to another ME machine to try

On a windows 2000 Service Pack 4, a fresh installation of 0.5.0.r1, produces a message box from windows, on starting the program.
Title: Prgram error.
Text: mediacoder.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. An error log will be created. (more or less; I am translating).

Does your CPU support SSE?

I guess does not support SSE. It's a Pentium II; I think that started in Pentium III.

Fatal Error Issues as well

I have the same problem. My machine is:
  • Pentium 4 w/ HT 3.4 GHz
  • 2GB RAM
  • Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
It Says "Fatal Error" when I launch the app.

Now it's saying "The internal HTTP Daemon cannot be started" What does it use HTTP for :?
