Try setting "Video Source" to "FFmpeg" (untick "Auto Select").

encoder thread blocked

Post by hurry » Thu Feb 14, 2008 1:50 am

"The encoder thread seems to be blocked" error comes up while transcoding when I select ffmpeg as video source with untick. I also tried changing Audio source to ffmpeg. It gives the same error. Stanley, please fix this m2ts problem as it will help a lot of video enthusiasts out there with the new avchd cameras.

sample m2ts & mp4 files

Post by hurry » Thu Feb 14, 2008 6:08 am

Greetings Stanley, Here is a small sample (5 MB) of the m2ts file directly recorded from the camera:

m2ts

and here is the transcoded mp4 with H.264 (150 kbps) and Nero HE-AAC V2 (32 kbps):

mp4

Please notice that video and audio are miles off sync in the transcoded mp4. I hope these samples will help to solve this problem. I am eagerly waiting for your response.

When I play this file with MPlayer, it is already not synced. What software do you know play this file correctly?

sony or nero avchd player

Post by hurry » Fri Feb 15, 2008 10:19 pm

I use the Sony AVCHD player which came on the CD with the camera. I think the latest versions of the Nero Player should also play the m2ts file fine. I think the problem is that the audio in the m2ts file is 5.1 surround sound Dolby which may be causing the problem. I can upload the Sony AVCHD player for you if required.

Please add support for AVCHD. There's no transcoder into full 1080 HD video. I've got Sony HDR SR12 and it's such a shame the software you get with this great camera allow you (in the best quality) to transcode only into 720x576 mpg files!!! We need AVCHD to HDV please :!:

Any news on .m2ts (avchd) to .mp4 support in MediaCoder? I downgraded .m2ts to .mpg via the Sony Viewer converter which converted the audio from 5.1 dolby to mpg also. The created mpg converts to mp4 fine in MediaCoder. The problem is the dolby 5.1 surround sound audio in the m2ts files recorded by sony avchd cameras. This produces a big lipsync problem. I hope Stanley can find a solution to directly transcode m2ts files to mp4 or to any other format.

After two days' search on the internet, I found the solution. That is to integrate JM H.264 decoder.
