ati stream technology gpu based sdk
ati stream technology gpu based sdk
atm i am using medishow espresso for encoding since it supports ati's stream technology, not just because it support it but mainly since it makes the encoding much faster..
i noticed that medicoder does have cuda from nvidia which ofcourse is only usefull for nvidia users
are there any plans to implement ati stream in near future?

Re: ati stream technology gpu based sdk
it would be extremly usefull.
since I notice when encoding with media coder it uses 100% 4 cores which is great and espresso media doesn't really do that instead it uses mostly gpu and that seems much faster.
so if media encoder would now support ati streams that would pretty much blow espresso away which doesn't fully utilize all cores like mediacoder.

Re: ati stream technology gpu based sdk
definitely another vote for ati stream SDK support. I have a nice 5770 that I would like to help me encode even faster. What can I do to help? I'm a very capable C programmer.

me too !!gojesse wrote:definitely another vote for ati stream SDK support.
I have ATI 4870, (my cpu is Phenom II X6 1055T @3.5ghz)
(at the moment NVIDIA suxxxx)
Re: ati stream technology gpu based sdk
yes please , i would love support for Ati Stream Technology in Media Coder , the H264 720p encoding process is taking way too long on my Quad Core AMD CPU , it takes about 45 minutes for a 20 minutes file...in Cyberlink Media Express it takes 10 minutes but the output file`s quality is very bad , besides you can`t set desired bitrates , B-Frames , CABAC etc...I own a HD 5750 GPU and AMD Athlon 2 X4 620 CPU...Thank you for all your awesome work , keep it up!mum1989 wrote:me too !!gojesse wrote:definitely another vote for ati stream SDK support.

Re: ati stream technology gpu based sdk
Would love some ati stream support. I'm so sick of this slow encoding using my old crummy cpu and my 8800 died months ago. Since then I have been hoping for an update where ati stream would be supported. I mean it's free, the sdk is right there so why not add support for ati stream?
Re: ati stream technology gpu based sdk
I just bought an nvidia grafic card, I have strayed with ati all time, but the h264 cuda is still diaspointing by the point ao quality. It even not supports 2 pass encoding.
That would be the fist thing, I would ask for, before i think of implementing cuda and stream.
The ati conversion software is so poor of quality, i think, the not take much interest in encoding software

Another vote for ATI support. I'm using an ATI 5670 with an Athlon 64 3200+ single-core CPU.
Re: ati stream technology gpu based sdk
the latest drivers for HD5xxx series by ATi have Open CL support. Will there ever be open CL support implemented into media coder? thank you
