Version 0.5.1 Crashes On Launch

Post by kevo777 » Sun Aug 20, 2006 2:43 pm

My system
Windows XP Pro SP2
AMD Athlon XP 2800+
1 GB DDR
520 GB HHD
Nvidia GeForce 6200 AGP 128 MB

I discovered MediaCoder about a month ago during ver. 0.5.0. I was having no major issues outside of known bugs and issues. After yesterday's update I get an instant crash upon launch everytime. I've uninstalled and re-installed 4 times, cleaning out even the registry each time....nada. I've had to revert back to using ver. 0.3.9 which launches and works for me everytime.

Any suggestions?

Same crash on load

I'm getting the same error. It seems that the application loads but I get the Windows "... has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the...". This is the first time I've loaded the application.

System:
XP
Intel P4 1.6GHz
1GB RAM

I get a crash on startup too.

Dialogue box comes up: mediacoder.exe Application Error
The instruction at "0x0040c819" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program.

Beneath this I can see the application window fully loaded.

This is a celeron 666 running win2k. The last version worked fine but I have deleted it now. After a lot of pulling out of hair I found out about the i686 update and I've run that, but there was no change. Help! :(

(BTW I really wish the default was the i686 version, or the main installer contained both versions and gave a choice or detected your CPU - that would surely solve a lot of other people's problems).

I've just tested MediaCoder build 2405 on a Pentium-III 500Mhz system and it works just fine. Are you using Win2K or WinXP?

btw: Including the both versions will increase the installer size.

I've just tested the latest version on a Win2k PC (with English locale) and everything is fine.

I don't know when, but at one point the program became idiotware and tries to set itself us as a webserver and then launch pages served from itself - if you block the program in the firewall it just crashes.

Where did you get 0.3.9 is it still available to the rest of us?

All previous releases are available for download. Look carefully at the download page.
