Have the same but, but DrWatson is likely to report this mishap to M$.
The prgram itself (MediaCoder) keeps on functioning, assume it's MPlayer causing the problem. The fault comes up as soon as you click on the AVI file to retrieve the it's data.
When I start MPlayer (MPUI.exe) itself from the MediaCoder directory as a stand-alone (without starting Mediacoder) it starts, but as soon as I ask it to play an AVI, it crashes. (It accepts the file)
Possible error in the installation package. (Running on XP machine).
Un and re-installed three times and went back to a previous version (4045)

I was also having problems with version 0.6.1.4106 (extracted zip archive).
Sometimes the program would crash on startup stating Mplayer was having problems. Other times, Mencoder would cause a crash when I was trying to convert a file.
I then downloaded the last stable version, MediaCoder 0.6.1.4045. extracted the archive, and copied Mencoder and Mplayer to the codecs subdirectory as Stanley suggested. The program hasn't crashed since.
Thanks for the suggestion. Are you going to replace Mencoder and Mplayer in the next build?
Does it make a difference if I use the installer version rather than extracting a zip archive? Does the installer check the system first for an optimized install?

The same happening here.

Try appending the scale filter to your filter list,
e.g. -vf spp, scale instead of -vf spp.
