Up to this moment there isn't any report on the status of the iPod plugin coming in pre9. I don't have an iPod to test with. Is there anyone has tested it?

STanley,

I have only made one attempt at it. However, it didn't seem to work.

I first tried to play the file in Quicktime which only played audio but no video. Media Player Classic plays the video okay. Since it is not playing in Quicktime i didn't bother to try on the iPod.

This seems to be the same behavious as in 0.3.9 that I had told you about earlier.

I will try again and see if I can get it to work.

Okay, I tried it again with ver 0.5.0 pre10. Same problem. Also now Media Player Classic also doesn't show the video. Only audio. But VLC plays it okay.

The following is the logger report during my latest attempt:

[06-12 13:55:45] [HTTPd] Starting httpd on port 8109

[06-12 13:56:40] Initialized
[06-12 14:42:48] Start transcoding job for D:\bennyda\Video Test\vidsrc\Djondon2.mov
[06-12 14:42:48] The target audio format cannot be muxed into the selected container format. The audio stream will be bypassed.
[06-12 14:42:48] MEncoder loaded
[06-12 14:42:49] Opening audio source (MPlayer)
[06-12 14:42:49] Starting audio encoder (Nero AAC Encoder)
[06-12 14:44:53] MPlayer unloaded
[06-12 14:44:53] [Nero AAC] Waiting for process to terminate
[06-12 14:44:53] Nero AAC Encoder unloaded
[06-12 14:44:53] MEncoder unloaded
[06-12 14:44:53] Finished transcoding job for D:\bennyda\Video Test\vidsrc\Djondon2.mov

Note the 6th entry "The target audio format cannot be muxed into the selected container format. The audio stream will be bypassed." Could this have anything to do with the problem. I DO get audio. No video.

Could you check if the container is set to MP4 at this time?

Yes. container is set for MP4.

I tried it again and Quicktime shows a pink window with an uneven green bar on the top. Media Player Classic now shows video but it is accelerated along with sound. VLC plays it okay.

Actually the results seem to vary from time to time. Sometimes Media Player Classic doesn't show video but audio plays ok.

I've updated the iPod plug-in. Could have another try. Get the updated plug-in here. Extract the files to mediacoder's plugins folder.

I tried the new plug-in. It works fine with Xvid MPEG4+AVC codec. With H.264. The same trouble with I am facing the same trouble. No video in Quicktime (green screen), in Media Player Classic black screen and accelerated playback of audio, and that too in spurts.

Does h.264 use FFMPEG or X264? Or something else?

H.264 is done with X264. Maybe there some options are not set correctly. Can MPEG-4 + AAC produced by the iPod plug-in play on iPod?

MPEG4+ AAC should work. I haven't tried it yet with MediaCoder but I will. Cucusoft has a converter for iPod which does that and it works. I will let you know what happens with MediaCoder
