After succesfully creating an mp4 from vob using the tips here:

The mp4 plays fine in mplayer but crashes iTunes 6.0.4.2. Is there something I'm missing?

Also, when trying to bring up the same file in Quicktime 7 it denotes a Buffer overrun detected when trying to view the file. MP4 podcasts I get from iTunes play fine.

I suggest you choosing Nero Encoder as audio encoder, and set "format" in the audio tab to LC-AAC.
