For example:
Video tab: Encoder = WM Encoder, Format = WMV 9 and Source = Auto
Audio tab: Encoder = WM Encoder, Format = WMA9 and Source = Auto
Container = ASF
yep that's the setting am doing
with
Multiplexer set to Auto
Maybe I need WMplayer 11 on board ?
Not necessary if you have wmv9 codecs installed...though you can give a try to wmp11 for an update
but not WMA9, with FFmpeg -- nor WM Encoder in my setup).
WMA9 encoding is not supported by ffmpeg
so mediacoder's wm encoder will invoke the windows media components installed in the system for wma9 & wmv9 encoding

I installed WMPlayer 11 and according to the App IntstalledCodecs , WMP 9 is not present before or after installing WMPlayer 11.
Also, an attempt to convert a VOB to WMV9/WMA9 in XP SP3 using build 5003 failed again. It stopped ~2% through a small VOB with "There is one or more errors in transcoding process. You can get more information from the error codes". And, of course, no error codes are given !!?

Thus, unless someone corrects me, the WMV9 Codec is not universally in use by PC users and since WMV9 is much slower than Xvid and no better in quality, I cannot see much value in including the conversion to WMV9/WMA9 in the Test Report (under Tips & Guides). After all, in my system all builds will probably fail such a test!

[Edit]: i have K-lite Codec pack as well as Storm Codec pack, neither of which claim to contain WMV9 !

Well,
whether its universally used or not
I can't say much about it...........
Mediacoder has this features included and it should work atleast....and it does on and off...

Yes rhycos, you are right. It needs fixing!

However, there is no point in me including WMV9/WMA9 conversions in the Test Report if I can't get it to work on my system.
If I did, I would report a failure for every build even though you and others can do it!
So, unless Stanley or someone can suggest how I can get it to work, there is no point.

Windows Media seems too temperamental and system dependent.
For example, I can get build 4399 to give WMV9 with WMA v2, but, when setting WMA9.2 via Windows Media Audio, it hangs up.
And I can't get WMV9 with 5003 even with audio as MP3 or WMA8 (FFmpeg) !!
