Transcode VRO from Panasonic VDR-D220 for use in other progs

Post by vso » Sat May 29, 2010 7:53 pm

Hello,

perhaps anyone can help me what settings to use for transcoding the .VRO-files produced by my Panasonic VDR-D220.

The output is three files: VR_MOVIE.VRO, VR_MOVIE.IFO and VR_MANGR.BUP of which the VRO file contains the media data.
The container of the VRO file is MPEG-PS with AC-3 sound (says MediaCoder).

What are the problems?
I rename the VRO to MPG.
I load that MPG into Cyberlink PowerDVD: everything fine.
I load that file into Cyberlink Powerproducer: no sound! It looks like the Powerproducer has a problem with AC-3.
I also found that programs try to change the 704x576 resolution to standard 720x576 resolution which, of course, always makes the film unsharp.

I would be very thankful for a tip how to convert the VRO file (or the whole folder) to a format I can work with in Cyberlink PowerProducer.
I would prefer settings that do not change the resolution but keep it at 704x576 (or add 16 black rows so the resolution of the picture itself is not really changed).

Here the properties of the VRO file as found by MediaCoder:
Container: MPEG-PS
Video(0): MPEG Video
Bitrate: 9543 Kpbs (seems rather high to me)
Resolution: 704x576
Aspect ratio: 4:3
Frame rate: 25
Scan: Interlaced TFF
Audio(128): AC-3, 256 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 Channels

Thanks in advance,

Volker
