subtitle quiestion

Post by belvmon » Thu Jun 14, 2012 3:25 am

I've a .mkv file with the following text track:
Text
ID : 4
Format : ***
Codec ID : S_TEXT/***
Codec ID/Info : Advanced Sub Station Alpha
Compression mode : Lossless
Title : ***
Language : English
Default : Yes
Forced : No

How can I convert the .mkv file to a .avi without subtitles?

I'm tried to do it putting "disable" in the Subtitle tabs but it didn't work

I'm also tried to put 9000 secs delay but neither

What build of MediaCoder are you using?

There may be burned-in text in the video as well.
Suggest you play the file in a software player like VLC and turn the subtitle tack you refer to ON and OFF and see what is left playing.

According to the Test Report, under Tips & Guides (link below), most recent builds up to 5250 work with subtitles (see the column "Hard Render".
The test includes Disabled and Default. But it refers to conversions of VOB to MPEG2.

So, I tried 2 conversions to AVI in build 5230 on a VOB file with 8 subtitle tracks.
I used the settings for MPEG4/AVI and Xvid/AVI given in the Encoding Guide with Subtitles "disabled".
In both cases, there were no text in the output.

I'm using 5250 version and the subtitle it's not included in the video source (I Think) because if you extract the video track with MKVcleaver (for example) the output file hasn`t subtitles

Thanks belvmon.
However, there should be no need to remove the subtitle tracks before using MediaCoder.
This topic deals with how to avoid burning in the sbtitles that exist in the source file.

Surprise, this morning the 5250 version has stopped working suddenly, I don't know why (we discuss this in a future post) so I installed an older version, 0,7,5,4799, so in this version you only need to put disable in the tabs subtitle and the output file have not subtitles, exactly that I want

Now I am surprised,
Build 4799 should not have worked as well - see Test report at: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=9611 (look under 'Hard Render')
As I suggested before, build 5230 would be a better choice and includes new features.
