WMV to MP4?

What are the settings to convert to an MPEG-4? Are they basically the same as an MPEG-2 but with a different video format (eg. same bitrate, video size, frame rate, but different container, different video format)

Thanks Bochen. A bit more detailed than I needed, but helpful.

I think I have appropriate settings, based on that and the summary specs for existing MP4s that I have, and MediaCoder seems to like them. But when MC gets to the end of the encoding job, it gives me the standard "this might be one of six things, five of which are your fault" error.

Summary:

File Details:
Container: WM
Duration 1505.0 sec
Video: WMV3
Resolution 428x240
Frame rate: 1000fps
Audio: 161
Bitrate 32kbps
Sample Rate: 32000Hz
Channels: 2

target format:
Container: MP4
Video: MPEG-4 (DivX4/5)
Bit Rate: 1152Kbps
Sample Rate 44100 Hz
Estimated File Size: 229MB

I set my framerate for the target file to 29.97fps, and unchecked the resize option.

I'm using FFMPEG audio format MPEG Layer 2 with a bitrate of 128KBps

What am I doing wrong?

Hi.

Here is the correct settings for MPG-4

Video Output Container: H.264/AVC
Audio Output Container: AAC
Bitrate:1200 (default)
Frame/Sec: 25 (default)
Frame Size: just test as 355x288 or No Change.

Audio:

Sample Frequency:22050
Channels: 1 or 2 (default 2)
Bitrate Kbps:64 +/- in 8's

I'll post in 'Video And Guides' later with MediaCoder settings.
