Source File size is about 12 MB
Encoding Bitrate is set to 1000 kbps
And settings are set as mc default
Output file size is around 53mb  ...

What are your settings?
You chose MC defaults, but when I set "Revert All Settings" I get H264 video with MP3 audio in an MP4 container.

If you start with the settings for Xvid/AVI in the Encoding Guide (viewtopic.php?f=17&t=9643), what do you get?
Then, if you change to 2-pass or 3-pass, with all else the same, what then?

mixer: you said "Works OK for me using your settings" -- whose settings?
(rhycos had only defaults?) Did you start with the Encoding Guide (fails for Xvid/AVI in 5002)?

Thanks mixer.
30 min ago I installed 5010 and discovered Stanley had removed Bypass as a video source, so, I had to look for another way of using Xvid.
I found that changing the video encoder to Xvid, all works. As you found.
In my setup, if FFmpeg had been set as Encoder, it will remain when Xvid is selected as Format.
(I think you meant to say that the setting of the Encoder to Xvid will auto set the format to Xvid, which is true for me!)

Looks like I need to change the Encoding guide again! Oh, well!

Guys, there is no 3-pass mode for xvid.
When things work together, things work.
