Post by itspete » Tue May 30, 2006 4:10 am

FLV (Server side requires additional software)
------

Audio TAB:
MPlayer
FFMPEG Audio Codec (or Lame MP3)
22050
Down Mix: Disabled
Nothing else

Video TAB:
Bitrate slider(or type):816
Rate Mode: Fixed Bitrate
Format: Flash Video
Bitrate Control: Default

Container TAB:
Format: LAVF Option: Flash Video

Picture TAB: Crop And Resize if required.
Rotation: Disabled
Frame Rate: 25.00 (default)
Nothing else

Time TAB:
All set to 00:00

Texts TAB:
Nothing selected

Preview: Not for SWF (MPlayer can not display at present)

Audio Output Container(Bottom Right TABS)
Lame TAB:
Rate mode:CBR (try others)
Bitrate Control slider(or type):64......I'm not sure here if it's 64???
Alogorithm Quality Slider(or type):0 (for best)

UPDATE 30th May 2006
---------------------------
You can also try these settings to suit your needs.
All settings as above, but change:
Audio TAB:
a)Use Encoder:Lame Mp3
** with **
Audio Output Container (bot right TABS)
Nero TAB:
AAC Profile: Auto
Encoding mode:Streaming(CBR)
Quality bitrate:64
Hint track:not selected

OR..Keeping a) but change...

Audio Output Container to:-
Helix MP3 TAB:
Mode:Variable Bitrate (can use other)
Channel:Simple stereo
Bitrate:64

This will should give you tighter code.
-----------

SWF (Server side needs NO streaming software).
------Usually this type of file is smaller and streams fast.

I am working on this.
If you have the SWF full setting in MediaCoder then Please let us see it.

Post it in 'Questions And Answers' Forum and NOT here please.

Many thanks
Charles

Thanks for the info. Even though the quality's a little worse than the on2 vp6 codec, using mediacoder you get WAY faster encodes. Thanks again.

Hi.
Don't settle for less than best. Try adjusting things until you get it as
you want it. When you do, let us see your settings. Every bit helps.

All the best
Charles

The thing is that I need to keep filesizes low (uploading flv to server) so I usually keep the bitrate at 300-400, using 400x300 resolution and LAME MP3 @ 64kbps mono. Those are the exact same settings I use with the Flash 8 Encoder and the quality is noticeably better, but the encoding is PAINFULLY slow... =)

You should use 384x288 which is the correct size. The next is 480x480.
Remember, if dimension is not correct you will have poor quality as well.
Default Frames/sec is 25. You could use 23.98 or lower and increase the
Video bitrate to give better quality.
The bigger the screen size, the more problems your Users will have.
They depend on system, connection and server speeds. None of which
(in generall) combined are really fast enough.
I use a 320x240 or a nice compact size of 240x192 (but not FLV).
The settings I give are really only a guide. With a little tweeking you can
get very nice results.

Hope this helps in some small way.
All the best.
