Re: Compression factor too high

Yes. that rings a bell. That option (Video Quality) was present in older builds. It would be useful if you mention the build you use. Thanks That particular screenshot was from build 5220, but it's exactly the same in builds 5210 and 5222 for me - and many other other builds. Some upgrade installs,...

Re: Compression factor too high

I give up! I cannot find a setting for video quality on the Video tab rto.png Also, do you mean that setting the quality at 90 gives a q of 3, etc? For the combination of Xvid /w ffmpeg, yes, with xvid quantizer range being 1-31 , where using 1 provides a completely placebo effect. When you say re-...

Re: Compression factor too high

Selecting Xvid as format , ffmpeg as encoder and variable bitrate as rate mode: video quality of 90: q=3 , 93: q=2 Not knowing any details about your source MKV or about the exact make and model of the TV, we have no way of knowing what it says it supports , and what it truly supports. And what reas...

Re: Compression factor too high

Did you re-encode with a fixed quantizer of 2 or 3 ,
or simply re-mux the video inside the MKV container into a container that your TV does support (whether it be mp4, mov, m2ts, vob, avi...) ?

Re: What settings do select to get the highest quality H264

Any reason for not simply remuxing the video&audio streams in the mkv-container into mp4-container ? If there is a good reason (such as resizing or decreasing H.264 level/profile, b-frames or ref-frames for hardware compatibility reasons): x264 with crf 16-23 (depending on what you consider transpar...

Re: How to convert Fraps RGB video to x264 lossless

-x264 preset should be "Faster" or higher, otherwise encoding will take ages and result will be even more ressources demanding: I'd say that the preset used shouldn't be slower than veryfast (and might want to use --tune fast-decode then, or just --no-cabac). The size of the encode created by ultra...

Re: Build 5215 : 10 Bit Encoding Settings Problem

for hi10p Encoding i replaced default x264 with newly downloaded 10bit x64 X264 from http://x264.nl By switch around I meant that you'd use x264 r2120 in MeGui and r2106 in MediaCoder and see if that makes a difference in either one, as far as subme goes. CLI Mode for x264 is not my cup of tea so A...

Re: Build 5215 : 10 Bit Encoding Settings Problem

Since Megui uses an older build of x264 than Mediacoder, what happens if you switch them around ?

edit: Also, when you open Mediacoder console window , does it use the user-specified command-line options for x264 there or not ?

Re: How to use x264 lossless setting?

For lossless encoding, --qp 0 is the same as setting --crf 0

Re: Format High@5.0

Depending on the source, changing the level could very well be possible without any re-encoding, merely changing a few bytes in the file could be enough. There are two differences between. The max bitrate: hi@4.1 and hi@5.0 is the max bitrate (62500 vs. 168750 kbit/s ), 1080p Blu-ray is limited to 4...
