I've the same problem. It always generates an VBR even if I set it to CBR. This problem also applies to the AC3 encoder.

I think you mean this forum.

The only downside to presets is, to my knowlage, it doesn't work. I've tried many times. But when I save my settings, most settings aren't restored when I use load preset, nothing changes. Maybe it's a problem in updating the tabs, but is seems nothing is loaded.

I usually convert to XviD avi with Lame mp3.

I've converted various VOB file to AVI and had nog problems.
I just set the video to XviD (2-pass) and audio to Lame mp3, and leave the container tabs as they are.

I don't know if this is the right way, but the result was great.

I'm not fully convinced if it is a bug but here goes. When I transcode a file to avi, it starts with: [= MPlayer junk data! =] I think about 30 times. Normally it wouldn't be a problem, but some player's don't like this. This means the file cannot be played. I've tested various program's. Most playe...
