Right now if you set LA BRC to 100 for best quality, you can only set reference frames to a max of 3, any more and it causes a crash of the quick sync encoder
Is there a fix coming for this issue that's persisted for months and months?
Quicksync support - Fix for reference frames past 3?
Re: Quicksync support - Fix for reference frames past 3?
Looks like a limitation/bug of the encoder itself.
When things work together, things work.
Re: Quicksync support - Fix for reference frames past 3?
Actually give me JUST a minute, I think I got it working, all because I no longer have an AMD video card.
I just stuck in my new GTX 980 last week and am doing a test encode right now with quicksync and its working 100% ATM with 8 Ref frames
It could be because of the GTX 980 OR it could be because OpenCL is turned off, I turned off ALL openCL in mediacoder to speed up standard encodes but I think this was the underlying issue!
*edit* confirmed, having OpenCL on is what was causing the issue, with OpenCL turned off, Quicksync can do 8 ref frames 100 LA BRC encodes

That's very good finding!
When things work together, things work.

I have a Vaio laptop with Intel HD 4000 integrated graphics, acceleration works but LA BRC refuses to work, am I missing where to turn off OpenCL? I can only find one place to turn it off and that's in x264 settings. Could it be my integrated graphics just doesn't support it?
