Unable to get Picture Effects enabled

Post by BillnOrlando » Sun Feb 10, 2013 7:53 am

Hello,

First, I really like the most recent version of MediaCoder. However, I am unable to enable the Picture Effects settings. I've tried both the Effects - Source Filters and Encoder Filters options, and neither seem to have any effect, even though the "Clipping and Effects" pop-up window definitely show the picture effects changes. See the attached screen cap.

Also, below are the files properties, if that tells you anything. Thanks.

Are you saying that you get the desired changes in the Clipping and Effects window when adjusting its sliders, but, that the resultant output file is unaffected?

What are you converting the file to?
What video format and container are you using?

Yes, I can definitely see changes to the video in the preview window, but its like the filters are not enabled when re-encoding. The original file is m2ts/ac-3, and I'm re-encoding it with the same settings. See attached screen grab of the Video/Audio/Container settings.

I should note that I tried 3 different times, all with different settings (one with very radical settings), and all seem to be the same. The resultant file sizes are slightly different by about 10K-30K, so it's doing something, but what?

Scroll down the Settings.gif image to see these settings and file sizes.

Well, if you are seeing the changes, I do not understand what the problem is.
Are you saying that the changes in the output file are not as much as indicated in the Clipping & Effects window?

There seems to be virtually no difference between any of the 3 samples and the original. On the 3rd sample, I had turned down the Saturation to 50% (almost B&W) and the re-encoding result was just not seen. See attached photo.

I have just checked out the Saturation control in build 5358.
I applied it to files in FLV, MKV, AVI (Xvid), WMV and MP4, all created using the suggestions in the Encoding Guide, listed in Tips & Guides (link below).

They all worked (change seen in Clipping and Effects window).
However, sometimes the change was not immediately obvious until the "Apply" button was clicked.

I tried what you said, clicking on the "Apply" button, etc., but no go. I even tried the MKV container, and still no change.

Question. Next to the Effects button, there appears to be three Filter options, Source, Encoder, and Built-In. I didn't specifically say, but from the screen grabs showing the tool bar, it shows that I'm running the 64-bit (x64) version of 5360. However, selecting the "Built-In Filter" option yields a pop-up message that says, "Unsupported feature in 64-bit version".

Is this the problem?

P.S. What specific help title (if any) talks about Picture Effects? I searched almost all topics, including the Encoding Guide, and didn't find specific mention of these options.

My previous post entioned different file formats that I had applied Effects to.
They refer to the source file that I loaded into MediaCoder.
I don't have a BluRay clip to try.

There is no specific Guide relating to Effects, only one on Trimming which discusses the Clipping and Effects window.
It is at viewtopic.php?f=17&t=8912&start=0.

I do not know what "Unsupported feature in 64-bit version" refers to for the Filters.
My guess is that the Effects adjusted in the C & Effects window should still work.

I should mention that the Source and Encoder filters did not give me that error, only trying to set the "Built-In Filter " setting, did that message some up.

Not having any luck with any of the other "switch" settings, I'll try the 32-bit version to see if the "Built-In Filter" setting works, and if so, if the filters work or not.

Also, just as an aside, I used tsMuxerGUI to create a 1 minute sample using the Split & Cut (Cutting) option from my Blu-Ray file. 1 Minute may not seem enough time to some, but it still generates a 50Mb file (at 5MB/s, 1920x800), and takes a few minutes to re-encode.

Sorry for the delay. I installed the 32-bit version, and it made no difference. I don't know what to do to get the Picture Effects filters to work. As I mentioned, any changes show up in the Clipping and Effects preview, but the do not show up in the final encoded video.

Is this because I'm using the M2TS container?
