Problems with subtitles in the newest Version

Post by Nischter » Tue Jul 03, 2012 4:22 am

Hello.
I first want to say that I am not a native english speaker, so please excuse my bad language.
Since the update to Version 8.13 i have a problem with the convertion of videos with subtitles. Before the update the subtitle were automaticly embeded in the videos (softsub->hardsub), which i loved very much. But since the update no subtitle at all is displayed. I tried to set the subtitle render to all 3 types (default, stream copy etc), i also tried to load the sub from the "outside" (the subtitle is in a mkv data, i extracted it and tried to embed it with the other option), but there is still no subtitle.
I read the faq, but in the subtitle article is no helping information for me, so i hope you can help me.
Details: I trie to convert a mkv file with softsubs to a mp4 file with hardsubs (with 8.12 it was no problem)
If there is no solution, can somebody give me a link to a older version? I can't find one (when i download it, it is always a 8.13 version)
Thanks a lot

Older versions are available from the main Download page at: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=6917
Use the link under "Older versions", etc.

Does anyone have a small MKV file with soft-subtitles (separate subtitle streams/tracks in the file)?
Would you please upload it to a hosting site such as imageshack and give us its link.
I would like to keep it for testing MediaCoder!!
Thanks

How many minutes would you like? I have lots to choose from. I can cut out a piece with MKVmerge and post it for you.

Thanks for the offer.
Maybe 1 min will do. Just enough to test.

Thanks ysbinns. Looks good (maybe I'm younger than I thought!).

Using the MKV file from ysbinns I checked the use of Renjderer = Default on the Subtitle tab.
It failed to burn in the Subtitle stream.
This confirms the original post by Nischter.

Strangely, this action works for subtitles in a VOB source file.
I created a BUG report -- see: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=12095.

Hello, it's me again.
Since my original post, i used a older version of mediaCoder and I had no problems with it. But now, out of nowwhere, I have the same problem again, now with the older version. When I saw the bug report, I switsched to 5236, but the problem still remains. Additional the font-box is pure white, like a few others has reported.
Can somebody tell me what the hell is going on? Am I the only one with such crazy problems?
