Valid video/audio formats for containers?

Post by ysbinns » Tue Jun 07, 2011 12:09 pm

I have read in several different topics that one must make sure they use valid video and audio format combinations for the container they want to use. I looked through the Tips and Guides, and searched Google, for some definitions for these valid combinations. I couldn't find anything. Does someone here have such a list?

Might start with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison ... er_formats
The problem comes from the fact that not all versions of all the different encoders or muxers
are able to successfully use all the possible different combinations.

Thanks ! I'll start with that. It did answer a couple of my questions. Unfortunately it also created a couple of more questions. But I know where to look for those answers. Thank you again.
