The spam on the forum is very serious.

Discuss about generic usage of MediaCoder.

Every day I take time to delete the ugly spam posts (around 10 posts for each day). If anyone knows any anti-spam approaches with phpbb, please tell me. :(

I don't know much about phpbb coding. But the best I can do is make some suggestion on some of the mods or other add-ons that I found at phpbb website that people submitted that might help you. Here are a few.

The first one doesn't fight spam, but it could come in handy when you have to deal with spammers that uses same groups or domain names when registering. Hopefully this should hold you off until someone who knows more about php scripting, can give you a better answer.

Thank you very much BlinkN!
I'm learning how to install a phpbb mod (a bit confused), after that I'll clean up all the spam posts. Before that, I've set user registration to admin activating mode. I really can't bare the spams.

Just removed them all!
It is likely we've come to the age that human beings need to fight with robots, much earlier than I expected.

EDIT: just applied an anti-bot mod, let's see if it works. 8)

Apparently Questions and Answers forum seems to get hit the worst when it comes to spam.

I temporarily set user registration to admin authorizing mode again. Seems the mod I install is totally not effect.
An interesting idea is to write a robot to clean up the forum, let robot fight with robot. Just for kidding.
I'll look at other mods and maybe upgrade to phpbb 3.0 (but it's still in beta).
