I'm using MediaCoder 0.6.1.4166 in Windows XP SP3.
When I attempt to click File >> Add Track (or Ctrl+T), it freezes with no response and mediacoder.exe is consuming over 50% of CPU time.

I finally solve this! I'm not sure if this is the same cause for others who have this problem.
Initially, my computer has following drives
A: (floppy)
C:, D:, E:, F:, G:, H: (hard disk)
J:, K: (DVD-ROM drive)
Note that there is no I: drive assigned. And this configuration has problem.
After I changed K: to I: drive, problem is fixed.
Hope this can help!

I can confirm this! Though I don't have the option to change the drive letters,
I temporarily disabled the drives and add track worked from a hard drive directory.

Nice finding ce1st. Did the exact same thing awhile back by re-assigning my drive letters, but I had no way of proving this fix. This proves the doubts I was having. This was how my computer setup the drives.

3 1/2 Floppy Disk Drive (Non-Removable Drive/Media)
Drive Letter Assigned: A

Note: A and B drive letter is reserved for floppy disc drives. These drives are becoming less common or absent in newer computers.

Hard Disk Drive 1 (Non-Removable Drive/Media)
Drive Letter Assigned: C

Hard Disk Drive 2 (Non-Removable Drive/Media)
Drive Letter Assigned: D

iPod HDD Player (Removable Drive/Media)
Drive Letter Assigned: E

DVD-RW Drive 1 (Non-Removable Drive/Media)
Drive Letter Assigned: F

DVD-RW Drive 2 (Non-Removable Drive/Media)
Drive Letter Assigned: G

Whenever I removed my iPod from my computer, add track under MediaCoder freezed up. When I put my iPod back on, Add track under MediaCoder did not freeze up. I reassigned my iPod as drive letter G, then my DVD-RW drive 1 to letter E and my DVD-RW drive 2 to letter F. I set all my removable drive as the last drive letter from this point on.

Edit: Elaborated and corrected mistakes I made.
