Re: Audio quality?

The audio on the source vid is crisp and clear and pleasant. Anyone have any setting suggestions I can use that might help?

try Video Mobile Converter
output sound is ok

So I kept getting the "no output file" error with this in the newest mediacoder.

I ended up having to switch to windows media 8 encoder instead of 9. Any idea why this is? Is a codec screwed up?

I am a new Zune owner and I have the same problem. I have been using Nero 7 Recode to encode my DVD's and video's into the "portable" size used by Zune. But Recode creates a MP4 file. Although, this can be read and sync'ed into the Zune, the synchronization process takes a looonnnngggg time. I am trying to find a solution that will take my DVD VOB files and output a Zune compatible WMV file.

I have not been able to find a product that does this, until I found Mediacoder. But like "James" I always get an error and no output, no matter format I use as input (VOB, MP$, etc...).

What does the group use to get WMV file outputs????

It works! DVD to Zune (mpeg4) works!

If you are trying to convert DVD files to Zune - It took me a while to figure out what works for this conversion...

I use MediaCoder ver 0.6.1 build 4050 (latest version).

The original files can be the DVD or you can use any tool to download the files to your disk as VOB and ISO.

I use the pre-set for Zune: simply go to the drop-down menus -choose "extensions" menu --> "digital media players" --> "Zune".

Now the Zune GUI extension will launch (assuming you have Firefox... you need to have FF installed because the GUI uses it).

This is the important part: in the Zune GUI, instead of using the default setting for "Video" which is "Windows Media" type, you need to select "MPEG-4 (xVid)" settings from the drop-down.

I found that using "Windows Media" video setting simply doesn't work. But using "MPEG-4 (xVid)" setting works well and files are generated. The file type is ".mp4". If you put the generated files in the Zune video synch folder, Zune software will convert them and synch them to your Zune.

I was not able to use the "Join" settings, so for multiple VOB files you get multiple mpeg-4 files.

BTW my Zune is the older 30GB model and it still works fine.

I followed the above instructions and bam, the Zune software will not read the file. However the MP4 plays perfectly fine in VLC. Any ideas? I am trying a rip to WMV right now.

Did you install the K-Lite Codec pack first? I haven't installed it yet.
