How can I make join mode work?

I've ripped a DVD to a bunch of decrypted VOB files. Now I'm trying to convert these to an xvid avi. However, I can't get join mode to work. Encoding of individual vob files works fine, but it just stops after then first one when join mode is enabled.

How does join mode work?

Work need to be done.
What can be done now is join several files with same attributes (resolution, fps) and produce a joined AVI.
