First startup is confusing

Post by bugz » Sun Nov 05, 2006 3:02 am

When you start mediacoder the first time, it doesn't actually start. Instead, it opens a webpage with the "start mediacoder" button in it and waits for the user to click on that button.

The problem is, the page can open in a background tab in firefox on some configurations or the user can just ignore it, thinking it's a popup.

Even though I'm a power user, I've actually uninstalled the application before I noticed the page it opens.

I recommend avoiding this trick altogether.

Actually the welcome page only shows when you first install or update MediaCoder.
