Errors 11 and 19 for builds 4760 to 4782

Post by meRobs » Sat Nov 13, 2010 9:37 am

Ever since build 4760:
(1) Error 11 (audio source error) appears when I convert to Xvid/AVI.
Enabling various audio sources makes no difference.
(2) Error 19 (general error) appears when converting to MKV with Muxer on Auto.
When changing to enable MKVmerge, MediaCoder hangs up!

The settings for these two conversions are tabulated here: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=9643

When the EXE for FFmpeg is replaced by that from build 4640, they both work!

Stanley: must these conversions depend so much on FFmpeg?
Or is there something in your GUI that makes it so sensitive?

Sorry for using your post, meRobs. In 0.7.5.4788 build ffmpeg still does not work as video encoder. I try it with a mp4 file.
Have a question: can i replace the ffmpeg.exe in the current version with an older exe? Bye...

I have resolved this issue, though, I cannot explain it!
With the conversion to Xvid/AVI (error 11), I disabled the audio and tried again: error 13 (video source) resulted. So, I tried all video sources, including Auto Select, and the only one that worked was 'Bypass'. Using it instead of MEncoder and with Audio enabled all was well.
I then tried Bypass with the Xvid/MKV conversions and it worked too.

As an alternative, with MEncoder kept as video source, the use of FFmpeg from build 4640 avoided both errors.
This is so because builds 4760 to 4788 share the same version of FFmpeg!
Although, with the Xvid/MKV FFmpeg (4640) would crash if audio was enabled?!

Hence the Encoding Guide (viewtopic.php?f=17&t=9643) was modified accordingly.

Mosco: Yes, build 4788 is no better than builds 4760-82 in this regard, and you can copy over the FFmpeg from 4640, say!
See the above Guide for instructions and suggections on the MP4 settings.
