[FIXED] 4702 Update not installing over 4700 [Ok with 4703]

Post by encroder » Thu Jul 22, 2010 9:16 am

A Few days later after the 4702 release.

Install update-4702 over 4700 full build install. By choosing 4700 full install folder (install folder is named Mediacoder4700). Selecting Revert Current Settings or not, this error is shown and then quits update install.

This is an Mediacoder update and can only be installed where a previous full pack is installed. Setup will now exit.

Have three mediacoders installed atm 4582, 4640 and 4700.

Mediacoder4582
Mediacoder4640
Mediacoder4700

Above 4582, 4640 and 4700 are all full installer exe's, not updated to those build versions.

All previous setups worked fine for updating, when used previously.

Seems likely that stanley is fixing the paths problem for multi installs.

Will test that soon, ater first backing up everything and correcting folder layout for it.

Update 4703 install over 4700.

Installer chosen location Program Files\Mediacoder [this is as normal]

Changed the location to Mediacoder4700 folder via browse button. Mediacoder now wants to install into Program Files\Mediacoder4700\Mediacoder

I changed this for now and it installed to program Files\Mediacoder4700\

As thought and you say Mixer it like to have \Mediacoder folder name for installing.

Will test soon if with all install folders resorted (as below), and with the docs&settings backed up. To see if does fix the folder remembering problem that's known atm. And to test if does still use individual settings for each installed build, as does now.

C:\Program Files\Mediacoder4700\Mediacoder\
C:\Program Files\Mediacoder4640\Mediacoder\
C:\Program Files\Mediacoder4582\Mediacoder\

Thank you stanley for the quick fix
