Portable settings

Post by Nick_White » Thu Feb 26, 2009 8:57 pm

Until build 4275, the settings were saved in the MediaCoder directory. But now, it saves in "Application Data" (or whatever).

There should be an option to switch back to the old mode (settings file in current MediaCoder directory).

Agree, many people think it's easy if all configuration files are in that Application data folder.

The thruth about it is,
the folder can be also difficult to find
and it becomes a mess when installing a lot of programs.

This is an approach to avoid problem on Vista. With UAC, a program cannot write in "Program Files".
When things work together, things work.

I was using the .7z version, but it also writes settings in "Application Data".
There should be at least an option to choose.
