LAME MP3 tags give incorrect running times

Post by RSRarchiver » Fri Feb 06, 2009 7:08 am

I have the audio edition, although I also have used the regular edition as well. In both cases, I've had the exact same problem when converting any file to LAME MP3. The tags always list the tracks I convert as having a running time of 3:03:11, no matter what the actual time is, and no matter what bit rates I specify. The files themselves work fine. The times also show up as accurate in iTunes. However, they are blatantly wrong on the tags and in Windows Media Player. Any suggestions?

Indeed (of course when check playtime in WMP).
Not happen if used Lame from command line with exactly same syntax.
Also not happen if use Fraunhofer IIS MP3 encoder.
Odd...

Same problem here. Explorer shows length of 27:03:11. Both WMP and MediaMonkey will play the file. WMP, though, fails shen you try to jump to a different point in the track. MediaMonkey displays an incorrect length (e.g., a track that is actually 7:54 displays a length of 1:08) but will play past what it thinks is the "endpoint".

Vista64 SP1/MediaCoder 0.6.2.4256. FLAC > lame vbr standard. Transfer tags OFF, as I was having different problems with that option (it was writing the db level (from replaygain?) into the album field.) This software is SO close to being exactly what I need to convert 2500 flacs/shns to mp3, but I've had a frustrating morning with it.

will check this issue
it seems that Winamp just report the correct length.

I'm having the same issue. All my mp3 files show a play time of 51 minutes 18 seconds. They give the correct time in Winamp but show the wrong time in WMP. The files themselves play fine but this time thing is a little irritating :( . Has anyone managed to figure this out yet?
