Problem converting FLV videos (bld 4190/4185 video bug)

Post by pmr2011 » Sun Sep 14, 2008 1:49 pm

Every time I try to convert an FLV file, regardless of the output format/container, I get an error message telling me no file was outputted with error code 011, which says that there's a problem with the audio source. I've tried changing the audio source to no avail. I don't have any problems converting other file types, however, only FLV. (Interestingly, MediaCoder can PLAY the FLV files but not CONVERT them.)

I'm using v. 0.6.1.4190; the videos are downloaded using the DownloadHelper extension for firefox, and so far I've tried videos from Youtube and Megavideo with no success. Does anyone know what is causing this or at least what I can do to fix it?

Confirmed for 4185 and 4190 build.

Works in 4180 build (however can't use FFmpeg as encoder).

Odd syntax in console window.

Glad to see I'm not the only one having the problem. Looks like it'll take a new build to fix it though :?

Oh, I forgot: I'm also using XP Pro (SP3) with FF3.

One last thing: MC Media Player edition build 4063 also can't convert FLV to AVI. But instead of getting the error code 011 the program simply crashes completely.

Me, too, confirming for built 4190 using XP with SP2.

But what I found out is, that only files are concerned that are converted by using the FLV-codec, i. e. Flash/Sorenson. And I mean codec, not container!

I got this information using GSpot 2.70a.

@ Stanley: Maybe this information will help you solving the problem.

Hi guys I'm back again and maybe with a solution for the converting problem.

So, please, try this:

1. On Video-Tab deactivate Auto-Select for both, Source and Encoder.
2. For Source choose MPlayer.
3. For Encoder choose FFmpeg.

Doing it that way it works for me. No error message 011!

Okay, Ulf's solution does sort of work--I can convert flv vids to avi. The problem is the videos produced through that have major audio lag issues, possibly/probably resulting from a variable frame rate. When I raised this issue in another thread placio74 said that using FFmpeg as the source would correct the audio issue--except using FFmpeg as the source gives me the same error code 011 I was having problems with in the first place :? I love your program Stanley, but please fix this bug for the next build! :)

(Here's the link to the other thread about the audio lag btw: viewtopic.php?t=5011)

I asked myself that too about why Error 011 on 4200 version
Then I saw the hint and I've tried it just for the audio source.
It works.
So guys:

Audio Tab:
1. For Source choose MPlayer.
2. For Encoder choose FFmpeg.
3. Choose the audio in Lame Mp3.

It isn't necessary to unlock the Video Tab Encoding
Open Source is the most powerful way to spread knowledge.
