mediacoder does not work if x264.exe is updated

Post by isar3 » Tue Apr 22, 2008 7:13 am

Hi all,

why isn't mediacoder working if I change the x264.exe in codecs directory to the new one from http://www.x264.nl/ (revision 821)?
Is there a special implementation?
I wanted to update because my PC freezes for 2 minutes nearly every 30 minutes if I encode H.264 in mp4 container with mediacoder 0.6.1.4100, same Issue since 4095 I think.
So maybe x264.exe has a problem. Although often the message appears that says encoder may be blocked, but there are no other programms running and Task Manager says 95% idle.

Can be that this freezing is no mediacoder problem, I also installed several programms, but I have a lot to encode and so mediacoder is always running, and sometimes over 3h no freezing appears.

The x264 is patched in order to let it process yuv data from stdin correctly.

ok, thanks stanley for the answer....
Sorry to hear that it is necessary to patch the x264.exe, what if mediacoder is no more updated, so you cannot update the x264 codec, but that may actual realy not be a necessary problem. Maybe it can be fixed until mediacoder development is finished.

I will see if my PC still feezes with version 4045 and report. If I close mediacoder the PC seems to work properly.

By the way I use an Intel centrino 1.86 GHz Laptop.
Nero Audio encoding and x264 codec. I guess the problem may be in mencoder or x264.exe.

I compile x264 whenever there is an update in its source code repository (currently git) and release it with MediaCoder. So it is always up-to-date unless the latest build of x264 is buggy.
