Works in 3905 but notin 4038. Bug?

Post by MajesticJG » Sat Jan 26, 2008 12:02 pm

I often recode MKV files. The source is x264/DTS and I'm recoding to x264/AC3.

I check "copy" on the video and MKV as the container.

In 3905, I see it load FFMPEG in the console window, do the audio conversion then use MKVMerge to re-mux the file. It works perfectly.

In the late 39xx right up through 4038, it uses MKVMerge to demux the file, then reports "No file Outputed" - I don't see it attempt to load FFMPEG at all to do the audio conversion.

Any idea what's going on or how I can troubleshoot it? I think we've got a bonafide bug. I'm running both versions parallel right now. For everything else I do, 4038 works fine.

I'll post the output from the console window as soon as I can get a working copy of 4040. Since it had a change in the audio handling, it may fix this issue, too.

In latest build, when copy video chosen, the video stream will be processed by the muxer (if it is enabled or set to auto). However, current muxers can't process every file correctly.
When things work together, things work.

So if I want to transcode an h264/DTS MKV file into an h264/AC3 MKV file, I can only do that with 3905?

Is there a setting I can use that will make the latest builds do it the same way 3905 did?

I'm checking it out in 4042, but I ran into another problem. I have started another thread for that issue. Once I get past that, I'll work on this issue again.
