XviD doesn't work with 0.5.0 bld 2063

Post by bxf » Tue Jul 04, 2006 11:01 am

I tried to transcode to XviD a couple of files that I've processed successfuly with previous versions, but MC always comes back with the "standard" error screen listing the possible reasons for the failure. This occurs regardless of settings used. Strangely, it seems to go through the entire process before deciding it didn't work. I am able to use XviD with other tools and I'm sure there's no problem with my XviD setup.

More:

- Direct stream copy of MPEG1 files results in blank 4CC
- Transcoding to MPEG4(DivX4/5) yields 4CC of FMP4. This is not handled by some players.
- Transcoding to WMV with AVI or DEFAULT container produces files that play with a blank screen.
- MPEG1 with DEFAULT container produces an AVI file
- Cannot transcode to MJPEG or Lossless JPEG - get "standard" error list.

That should keep you busy for now :)

OK, bearing in mind that the post related my experience immediately after installing 0.5.0, I discovered that I was able to use XviD only if the frame rate was 15fps. Anything else, including the same fps as the source, failed.

However, after changing the XviD profile setting to UNRESTRICTED, it seems to be working fine with other fps settings. Good.

I foiund there is frame rate issue in that release and has fixed it.
It can be avoided if you don't change frame rate (choose "original").
