2 seconds Sound Delay when converting from .MOV to MPEG

Post by tajsiddiqui » Tue May 16, 2006 12:21 am

I have enjoyed converting media files to my DVD player. I think that the software is excellent. But I have a problem that I could't figure out. I always get about a 2 seconds Sound Delay when converting from .MOV to MPEG-1/2 or to VCD or DVD .

I tried using the TIME audio delay function in milliseconds, negative and positive, without any results.

I have been using the version MediaCoder-0.3.9-20060512

What is it that I'm missing? Thanks.

The original file is played on the same MediaCoder Player WITHOUT ANY DELAY. It is only the converted file that shows the delay.

To further explain: I shoot videos with a Nikon S1. It saves the files with a .MOV extension. The original files can be watched without any delay on the MediaCoder Player.

Is it possibly because the original .MOV video is 15 fps, whereas the transcoded is at 25 fps? I tried changing the fps to 15fps to try and see if this causes the delay, but it didn't work. The program always transcodes it to 25 fps, no matter what settings I use.

Thank you again.

I too have this delay problem except that I'm converting a DVD to .pmp format for my PSP. I also tried using the audio delay but no luck. The wierd thing is converting from avi to pmp seems to work fine. Maybe the delay problem is due to the fact that video and audio files are placed separately on the dvds and the program has problems syncing them together. Any ideas on how to solve this?

Hi.

The problem normally arises from codec problems.
Ensure that both your Video and Audio codecs are to date and set correctly from with Windows environment.
If corrupted, re-install them. Solved mine.

A). Video Bitrate is incorrect, adjust until correct.
B). Some players do not play correctly, so test in others.
At present, do not use VLC as this will display a lot of incorrectly coded
files.

All the best
Charles.

I found this problem is converted file time is less then original file.
I convert the file, the original is .mov 34s, the converted file is .avi 31s.
