Strange rubbish when encoding VOB to Xvid

Post by Nicko » Thu Jun 22, 2006 4:03 am

I have the latest version of Mediacoder. Tried different settings,
computers, containers, etc. - seems permanent.

This happens precisely at ~6 first minutes of the Lord of the Rings (first part) movie where someone's just got the ring and hand is opening with the ring in, trembling. And NOWHERE else. Some white blank boxes run around the frames for a few seconds. Quite annoying. Tried other applications (Gnot, DVDx) with Xvid - no problem, nothing like that. It seems that Mencoder has some buggy Xvid codec in it so it gives such a trash. Please correct the problem - I really do like MediaCoder, not to part with.

What do you use for playback.
You can try setting Xvid B-frames to 0.

By installing the new build (Pentium M optimized btw) of Mencoder by Celtic Druid problem is SOLVED! Same settings.
So, it means the default Mencoder has flaws.

Now, another issue (I had from the beginning): video goes delayed vs audio
(around 0.3 sec) in bigger chunks (>1 hour video). I use mp4 container. Lame replaygain-accurate. Trying now to play around delay audio option.

Great thanx for MediaCoder anyways.

This function is expected to be solved after I patched MEncoder. I think you can try the 0.5.0 pre-release.
