Failed to load Xvid

Post by SergeL » Sun May 13, 2012 8:42 pm

Good day,
I have a problem as follows:

After having installed MediaCode build 5243 I am not able to convert from AVI(various CoDecs) to XVID(AVI) animore
(I need to do so to watch AVI files on TV by means of a DVX/XVID reader thaa accepts DIVX and XVID files providing they are encoded with CBR bitrates not higher than 2000, sound MP3 CBR not higher than 282, old codecs, etc)

it worked fine up to yesterday, with my old build 5236

now conversion does not start, I receive the error message as follows:

"Failed to load Xvid. This can be caused by the absence of the library/binary"
Error 14

My system is:

AcerAspire 7750G laptop C
OS: Windows 7 (64)
Built 5236

I uselessly tried to:

uninstall built 5243 and reinstall 5236
uninstall 5236 and reinstall 5243 again, this time checking the install extra/legacy encoders box.
install the latest Xvid codec release available (1.3.2)

Somebody could help me? thanks in advance

Regards

Hi,

I practically solved my problem by means of windows 7 system restore points: as I wrote previously, everything worked fine till a couple of days ago. I brought the system back, and now it is working fine again.

What created Xvid failure and, more importantly, why it could not be fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling MediaCoder (and several builds of it) remains a mistery.

Update:

I tried to re-do everything as described in my first post, just to rule out the possibility that a/m problem was due to some other operation of any kind i did during the Mediacoder update without keeping note.

Therefore, I installed again last built and the problem (fail to load X-Vid) re-presented again in the same form.

Again, only way to solve the problem was by means of windows 7 system restore.

At this point I am pretty convinced this is due to some bug in the last built, and this is why I am posting it here, to inform Media Coder developers. (If, to this scope, I am required to post or mail this elsewhere, please somebody advise me - I am a novice, after all  )

Thanks for trying to resolve the issue. I have no clue, but I have moved the Topic to the Bug Report section.

Are you using the 32- or 64-bit version of 5243?
Have you tried the 32-bit?
Have you tried build 5240?
Have you checked out the Tips & Guides for MediaCoder? Try: http://forum.mediacoderhq.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=8061

64. My OS is a 64-bit Windows 7
Have you tried the 32-bit?
No. Would a 32-bit version work on my 64-bit system?
Have you tried build 5240?
No, unfortunately I did not download it at that time. Is there some place from which I could download it now?

Yes, you may use the 32-bit version on the 64-bit Win7. This is what I use.

To get an ealier build, simply go the Forum page: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=6917 and click on the 'Older versions' link and part the way down th page is the appropriate link.

Glad to see you are following my advice/suggestioons. Many don't!

meRobs,

thanks, I will try both suggestions this evening (my time zone of course, I live in Europe) at home. I am at office now.

BTW, I posted my problem primarily in order to get suggestions/solutions, so I consider reasonable to try them when they come :)

Mrobs,

I just tried the 32-bit version of last built, and it gives the same problem in my system.

now I am going to try your other suggestion.

I cannot find 5240, find everywhere 5242. 5242 does not help

Sorry, I guess someone forgot to put it up. In any case, if 4242 failes, I guess it would have as well.
I have used 5230, which is there.

If that fails to work, I am confused. As you can see from the Topic near yours (viewtopic.php?f=28&t=11982), what works on the developer's PC doesn't on mine!
