WMV > AVI = 1000fps O_o
WMV > AVI = 1000fps O_o
i don't know if i'm doing something wrong...
i have a wmv format video encoded with WMV9, i want to reencode to avi, i tried the "Stream Copy", everything goes well, but the video change the fps to 1000 (i even tried change to 23.976 -which is the original fps- in the PICTURE tab, but no luck, the video is always converted with 1000fps -_-
any help?
here is the summary:

The problem is, if i choose matroska or mp4, it give me a errorstanley wrote:You should not use stream copy, as I believe AVI container can't properly handle stream of Windows Media Video.
mpg works, but i don't want old crap mpg there is not a way to force in matroska container or mp4? (i use stream copy because i don't want any quality loss before i reencode in virtualdub)
all i want is to reencode to h264, but h264 codec don't support 2pass encode (at least the vwf one) changing fps (and i need, because i can't encode at 1000fps XD this is insane), gives a error about 1st pass has more frames than 2nd pass...
anyway, very good software

Ever thought of looking at the Encoder/Decoder it'self and setting it there?Hiei-YYH wrote:The problem is, if i choose matroska or mp4, it give me a errorstanley wrote:You should not use stream copy, as I believe AVI container can't properly handle stream of Windows Media Video.

What AVI result are you looking for?
3 types: Intel H264, VSSH and AVC1.
I suggest using Intel H264 as the Video Output Container.
Video Stream: Intel H264
Audio MPEG2 Audio Layer3
1024kbps, Screen size, Frames Per Second, Intel H.264
Audio: 96kbps, 2 channels, MPG2 layer3
AVI
Screen Size: 320x240, 352x240, 352x288, 384x288, 480x480, 480x576
640x368, 640x480, 704x480, 704x576, 720x480, 720x576, 1280x720
Frame Per Second: 11.988, 12.5, 14.985, 15, 23.98, 25, 29.97, 30
I just want the video without loss of quality, that's why Stream Copy, the audio i convert later to ogg audio which for me is better than crap mp3itspete wrote: What AVI result are you looking for?
MC converts well with AVI, but has this problem of 1000fps, MPG works normal, and the others give errors
EDITED AGAIN: looks like is not because the update, the video bacame 1000fps if i put 3pass, 2pass works well :~~ but if 2pass, the video loss A LOT of quality

MC converts, the video changes the fps to 23.976, very good, but the video gets corrupted in various places...
i don't know why stream copy doesn't work well with wmv9, if the source is the same :/

Just some thoughts.
Video fps 23.976? Why not 23.970? The difference could be why the
frames fall down. Actually I think MediaCoder is wrong here. It should be
23.98 not 23.970 I'll ask Stanley to change this. (see AVI in Tips and
Guides for correct settings).
What about the Container- OPTION? What have you set that to?
Have you tried the Container as LAVF with OPTION set?
I'll have another look and see if I can solve this.

Charles (I am no expert, just willing to learn)
Just for your information, Stanley, I've used VirtualDub-MPEG2 many times to simply do a Direct Stream Copy of WMV files to AVIs. Works perfectly. There is no transcodong involved, as everything happens very fast and you can see it is just doing a copy.stanley wrote:You should not use stream copy, as I believe AVI container can't properly handle stream of Windows Media Video.
