Build 5177 gives MP3 audio garbage, MPlayer bug? [FIXED]
Build 5177 gives MP3 audio garbage, MPlayer bug? [FIXED]
I am decreasing audio gain in AVI file. Using COPY VIDEO, MP3 audio with MPlayer source and LAME MP3 encoder, AVI container, Audio Gain of -7.5. Resultant audio is total hissing. This file converts fine with 5158 and 5176.
I notice per Change log that 5177 uses a new version of MPlayer. Is this the problem?

will check.

Re: Build 5177 gives MP3 audio garbage, MPlayer bug?
Same problem with build 5180 (64-bit). mp3 audio is garbage 99% of the time.
5166 doesn't have this problem, but 5166 doesn't seem to honor the start/end times for the encoding request.
I guess I'll have to fall back to the 2010 versions until this is fixed.
Also, feature request. Any chance you could update the time tab so that I can advanced in the HH:MM:SS:MMM fields via the tab key? That would enable me to enter all the info with the keyboard and not have to use the mouse.

Sorry, I forgot to mention I was converting from .mpa to .mp3 (same results with .avi to .mp3).

What happens if you disable video and only transcode audio?

Re: Build 5177 gives MP3 audio garbage, MPlayer bug?
For my case the original file has MP3 audio and I am trancoding the audio portion to MP3 audio with -7.5db gain.
I disabled the video and just transcoded the audio and still have MP3 hissing. I then tried no audio gain adjustment. Same hissing result.
I tried a file with AC3 audio and transcoded to MP3 audio with -7.5db gain. This file worked. I then disabled the video and transcoded audio only and it still worked.
So the problem I mention involves transcoding an original MP3 audio into MP3. I have not tried any other audio formats.

I tried build 5182. Copy video, transcode original MP3 to MP3 with audio gain of -7.5db just as before. I now get an Error15.
I disabled video and just transcoded audio. Resultant MP3 audio is still all hissing noise.

Re: Build 5177 gives MP3 audio garbage, MPlayer bug?
In my case, I'm converting audio formats so there's no video to disable.stanley wrote:What happens if you disable video and only transcode audio?
Updated to 5182, and after listening closely to the noise, it appears as if the sampling rate is wrong (i.e. slower), but its difficult to tell for sure given the noise.
Now the interesting this, build 5182 seems to produce legit audio when the mp3 content is put in an flv or mp4 container. Its only when I do the audio only convert that there is an issue.
The original sampling rate was 48khz. I tried re-sampling to 44kHZ but it made no difference.
Just tried to convert to AAC (inside an .m4a container) and that worked fine.
Re: Build 5177 gives MP3 audio garbage, MPlayer bug?
I just tried build 5183 and got the same error code 15. I changed the Multiplexer from auto select to MEncoder. This time no error15. However the audio was still hissing noise. I listened very carefully, trying to filter the noise out, and realized that there was audio present. The audio sounded like it was in SLOW MOTION !!!

Confirmed. It will be fixed soon.
