I suggest you performing a un-installation (to make sure older encoder is removed) and perform a clean install.
I did and it's still crashing. Doesn't matter if I use a fixed bitrate or something else.
MediaCoder doesn't have any kind of logfile, so how can I provide you any data?
The vpxenc.exe is always crashing. Here's the file I used:

Me too. I tried with both web edition and full edition (both 64 bit on my Windows 8.1 64bit), vpxenc crash using VP8 (I don't try VP9 because I need a webm compliant file).
I solved opening the windows shell and using ffmpeg -i input.mov output.webm
Works like a charm.
