CUDA speeds slow

Post by Brian Boyko » Sat Jul 11, 2009 2:24 am

Hi. I've got a Cuda-enabled video card, but for whatever reason, I find that when I render in MediaCoder, it takes much longer than using Badaboom. (a 2-minute test file takes 37 sec. in Badaboom and 67 sec. in Mediacoder.) By way of comparison, I have a 9800 GTX and a Core 2 Quad processor; rendering via x.264 at the same bitrate only takes 64 sec - so why even use CUDA?

I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong - and if there's any way to increase the speed of CUDA rendering, as MediaCoder has batch processing, and Badaboom doesn't.

Considering that I have 40 one-hour files to encode at 1080p, 720p, and DVD resolution, this would save a major amount of time.

Have you set output resolution? Badaboom down-scale to resolutions of devices automatically.
