NVENC H265 quality problem

Post by yobooh86 » Tue Feb 28, 2017 7:30 am

I have a great dilemma with NVENC and H265.
I want to convert all my tutorials library to H265 to save space: But I have a great issue on static images and flat gray blackground (3dstudio in particular)
Whatever variable setting I use in Mediacoder to convert my videos I have "Blockiness" in the gray blackground: 2 pass, Average Bitrate, both on high quality and loseless preset and also raising KB/s the only solution was to use constant QP 15-18
I've latest Mediacoder and latest Nvidia drivers...There isn't a solution to this problem?

Other values are leaved to stock, i tried some things like increasing GOP, disabled temporal HQ and changed two pass mode

HERE it's a sample image:

The encoding quality is totally decided by the hardware video codec in the graphic card. All GPU accelerated encoding has some trade-off between speed and quality.
When things work together, things work.
