Stanley, have you heard of AMD?

Discussing about advanced video encoding techniques including GPU encoding, distributive encoding and segmental encoding. Topics are not limited to MediaCoder.

They make CPUs and GPUs, and since 2011 they have included hardware video encoding on their GPUs in a block called VCE.

Other video transcoders support VCE and have done for years, Mediacoder still does not.

AMD has recently released new version of their Media SDK here:

Polaris GPUs (New Radeon 4xx series) can also encode H.265/HEVC, even with 2-pass. As an example of how easy this is to implement, a hobbyist created a VCE live-streaming plugin for OBS Studio in his spare time in a few days: https://www.xaymar.com/2016/08/26/versi ... s-out-now/

A developer of a competing transcoder updated their program to support H.265/HEVC GPU encoding with VCE in a few hours, without even owning a Radeon 4xx GPU to test on: http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/3800 ... ng-Samples

I am encoding HEVC on my AMD GPU right now, though obviously not in MediaCoder. Are you ever going to acknowledge AMD?
