Open cl based encoding

Post by themaster123 » Wed Jan 07, 2015 2:08 pm

I aware the mediacodier support intel quick sync and cuda. As it seem the 900 series(from what I seen with my gtx 970) has trouble due to the drivers with cuda based encoding and nvidia NVENC probably won't be usable soon due to developer(viewtopic.php?f=25&t=12846). I don't have a problem with this as I know that he as other thing to do so no disrespect for the developer of mediacodier. However I don't see any option for amd(ati if you using a 5000 series or older) card and was wondering if there opencl support that someone using a 900 affect by the driver(since you can't rollback to a unaffected driver and open cl is still usable to my knowagle) or amd\ati card.

mole007 NVENC link work at least on my desktop. My laptop is actually similar to mole007 with it 860m to also be maxwell based and i7 4710hq as the cpu however I stop worry about the nvidia card and just used the quick sync but now I have a way to compare it on the same computer. Just and edit I figured out the open cl option doesn't seem to impove but maybe I not using a setting that use that noticeable though. I having issue with try use h265 encoding using nvenc and it give me error code 14 using a gtx 970(gm 204) and driver 347.52.

I try to use opencl in old AMD a6-3400m but he performance don't increase noticeably. after that don't encountered home use for opencl, at this time, cuda has more utilizable apps. opencl is suported directly for x264 encoder (the gpu usage was irregular)and not by de mediacoder program. wen AMD resealsed de catalyst omega and configuring mediacoder memory usage to 6GB obtan good performance(720p ~6-8x), but encoding crashes wen the 6GB was reached, or the video driver was stop and turn unresponsible s.o. w7 home premium 64bit.
