5560 causing GPU coding (both CUDA and intel)

Post by Avi » Mon Sep 23, 2013 11:22 am

I have an i7-2600K and Nvidia GTX570. I haven't transcoded in about a year, but used to be able to use both CUDA and Intel transcoding with no issues. I just updated from 5330 to 5560 (x64), and I started getting constant "imsdkenc.exe has stopped working" errors. I realize a new version of the SDK is being used, so I updated my Intel 3000's drivers to the latest version (9.17.10.3223) but that has not solved the issue. I'm also getting an invalid colorspace issue despite setting at I420, but that may be due to the program's not finding the proper encoder. Any thoughts about how this can be addressed would be greatly appreciated. Crash details below:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: imsdkenc.exe

For the record, CUDA encoding no longer works as well, and I just updated to the latest Nvidia drivers (327.23). Downgrading back to 5530 doesn't help (same errors on both CUDA and Intel, although regular transcoding works, albeit slowly). Error log for CUDA below. Any thoughts as to what may be wrong would be greatly appreciated!

I think I may have solved it. Back to 5560x64.

After multiple upload and downloads; uninstalls and reinstalls, I changed from VIRTU to VIRTU MVP (v1). I think this solved the imsdkenc.exe issue.

The colorspace issue was seperate, and seems to be a result of choosing "Encoder Filters". You used to recommend that for speed for QL, but now it seems to not accept any of the colorspace options. Choosing "Source Filters" allows MediaCoder to work, it appears.

Is this intentional behavior?

Thanks

I switched back to regular LUCID VIRTU and it still works. It seems that once the Intel drivers are updated, LUCID must be reinstalled. I still don't understand the issue with the colorspace, though.

Choosing encoder filter will let some video filtering done by encoder, including scaling, deinterlacing. But the encoder supports limited types of color space.
When things work together, things work.
