Re: Anyone messed around with the NVENC option ?
Matey - just bought a GTX650 to try out this NVENC lark.....previously had a GTS250....
Two disappointing things:
1.) The GTX650 is NO FASTER than the GTS 250 when converting MPEG2 TS captures to I-pad compliant H.264 via cuda...
(in fact it is occasionally SLOWER!!!!!!!!!!)
Mated to a 1090T - neither the CPU or GPU are using anywhere near their full resources - although the "faster"
650 is running about 70% where the 250 is using 50% (WTH?)
both devices result in an encode speed of around 170fps.......
2.) Forcing mediacoder to use NVENC results in an encoding speed of 100fps.....yep.....SLOWER THAN CUDA.
if the new card wasn't substantially quieter, cooler and uses less power, i'd be a lot more upset.....

Update:
you can't really "force"mediacoder to use nvenc....
if you select "auto" in the video tab after selecting NVENC as the encoder - it does run,
but slowly....
if you select "GPU"it just crashes, leading me to believe the nvenc option does not really work at all
