Single-precision or double-precision float?

What Encoding with CUDA and GPU at MediaCoder important for GPU Core Performance:
Single-precision or double-precision float?
This is an important criterion to buy a new graphics card.
The GTX 480 (and Quadro 2000) has a very high DP float, the new Kepler (GTX 670), however, a very high SP but little DP.
Can you help me here?
