Change which GPU is used to encode

Post by osterac » Tue May 15, 2012 6:42 am

I hope this hasn't been asked before, but I didn't know what to search for. I was hoping, since I am getting a second CUDA enabled GPU (it doesn't match so no SLI) that I could use my secondary GPU for encoding CUDA video. I'd like to do other things while the video is encoding, maybe even play games on my main GPU. It would be doubly awsome if I could encode 2 videos simultaneously, one on each GPU. I've seen that some laptops have the option to run a program using a certain graphics adapter, but this only seems to be the case for PCs with Optimus Technology.

Is there any way to do this with mediacoder, or any other program even? Maybe some program combined with mediacoder?

The new card will be a dedicated Physx card, but not many games have Physx. It will also be powering a sometimes-used HDTV.

Thanks for any advice.
