Is it possible to transcode video with 2 pass in Mediacoder
Hello!
Is it possible to transcode video with 2 pass x264 without errors in Mediacoder?
I've used many softwares (Avanti, AVS Video Converter, FFCoder, Format Factory, Freemake Video Converter, HandBrake, Hybrid, Nero, SUPER, TEncoder, Total Video Converter, TX264, VidCoder, WinFF, XMedia Recode) with 2pass x264 and with the same settings without any problems, but Medieacoder simply send error messages some seconds before finishing.
Thank you for your reply!

I don't think 2-pass encoding is broken in recent releases. Anyone else has the same problem?

I've the same problem with x265 HEVC in Medieacoder. 2pass do not work, despite I've tried all options.

We are talking about x264, aren't we?

X264 2pass is not broken for me. in to mp4 or mkv.
doesn't mean nothing has changed of course. but all OK here.

What were your options? Both 2pass x264 and x265 have crashed in my machine. Only the simple 1pass option works.flagpole wrote:X264 2pass is not broken for me. in to mp4 or mkv.

ERROR CODE IS ALWAYS:
014
Description: A video encoder error is encountered
Possible causes:
Video encoder cannot be started as expected
Video encoder is absent

I'm no x264 expert but... you seem to have a lot of of very aggressive settings and some very conservative ones. Blu-ray compatibility sticks out as being something that obviously overrides many of your other settings.
the only way to narrow it down i'm afraid is to revert all settings. try it then, on a small sample size and gradually change your parameters a few at a time to build the profile you're after.
incidentally you say 'only the simple 1pass option works.' incidentally the way x264 is most used these days is variable bitrate (in MC nomenclature) with 1-pass crf encoding. which gives the best results, although doesn't enable you to predict the filesize.

Re: Is it possible to transcode video with 2 pass in Mediac
Why is it not possible to use multi-pass crf in Mediacoder ?
I mean I want to use the first pass to determine the bitrate which will be
automatically used as the bitrate for 2nd encode.
When I tick multipass crf option in the 2 pass rate mode,
the process seems to be doing fine but the bitrate used for the 2nd encode is
always the same (irrespective of the crf value) and the one that is set in the bitrate value box.
I am attaching images below with red rectangles for the options I think
responsible for this behaviour.
